After arriving at TIA Airport Kathmandu, you must take an arrival visa from the immigration of Nepal for your stay in Nepal. However (15,30,90days), if you want to spend time in Nepal, you must pay ($30 for 15 days, 50 for 30 days). We also want to inform you that you may take up to 3 hours to complete all the procedures. It may vary according to the schedule of the plane and flight that you are coming from.
After that, we will stand at the arrival point with our banner and nameplate and take you to your hotel in the vehicle we have arranged. In this order, you will be welcomed with flowers and Khada (Special Buddhist prayer things). With all that, on the way to the hotel, you will find Nepali traffic jams, which can irritate you, but still, you will explore a little bit of the capital city of Nepal
Early in the morning, you'll embark on a scenic drive to Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit. The journey takes around 6–7 hours, offering views of lush hills, rivers, and villages. Overnight at a cozy teahouse in Besisahar.
Continuing by private jeep, you'll ascend to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang. The drive follows rugged roads through beautiful forests, waterfalls (withFamous Octopus falls), and quaint settlements, giving you a taste of the trek’s charm. Chame offers stunning views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal and also you can explore the Natural Hot spring . Overnight in a well-equipped teahouse with modern amenities.
Begin trekking with views of snow-capped peaks like Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Pass through forests and villages to reach Pisang.
Pisang is a picturesque village located at an altitude of approximately 3,200 meters (10,498 feet) in the heart of the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is a prominent stop on the Annapurna Circuit Trek, sitting between Chame and Manang. Divided into Lower Pisang and Upper Pisang, the village is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, traditional architecture, and a tranquil atmosphere that captivates trekkers.
The route from Pisang Village (3,200m) to Manang Village (3,540m) offers two distinct trails: the Lower Trail and the Upper Trail, each with unique features. Along the Upper Trail, trekkers can also visit the Green Lake (Kapuche Lake), a hidden gem known for its serene beauty.
Lower Trail: Pisang to Manang
The Lower Trail is a more direct and less challenging route, ideal for trekkers who prefer a gentler journey or are focused on conserving energy for higher-altitude segments of the trek.
Passes through the valley floor, closely following the Marsyangdi River. You’ll cross quaint villages like Hongde, which has an airstrip, and Mungji, offering glimpses of local life. Features lush vegetation and agricultural fields with occasional views of the surrounding peaks.
Upper Trail: Pisang to Manang
The Upper Trail is the more scenic and adventurous option, offering some of the most stunning views on the Annapurna Circuit.
Ascends steeply from Pisang to the village of Ghyaru (3,670m), where you’re rewarded with jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna range, including Annapurna II, III, IV, and Gangapurna.
The trail continues through Ngawal (3,660m), another charming village with ancient monasteries and traditional Tibetan architecture.
This route is ideal for acclimatization as it involves gaining and losing elevation before reaching Manang.
The Lower Trail is ideal for trekkers seeking an easier, faster route to Manang or those trekking during inclement weather.
The Upper Trail, while more challenging, is highly recommended for its sweeping mountain views, cultural richness, and opportunities to visit spots like Green Lake.
Both routes eventually converge at Manang, a vibrant village that serves as the main hub for acclimatization, exploration, and preparation for higher-altitude trekking.
The acclimatization day at Manang Village is a crucial part of the Annapurna Circuit Trek, allowing trekkers to adjust to the increasing altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. At an elevation of 3,540 meters, Manang is the perfect place for a rest day as it offers a range of activities, stunning views, and cultural experiences that make this pause in the journey enjoyable and meaningful.
As you ascend higher altitudes, the oxygen level in the air decreases. Spending an extra day in Manang helps your body adapt to these conditions, preparing you for the more challenging elevations ahead, particularly Thorong La Pass (5,416m).
Activities in Manang
Gangapurna Lake and Glacier: A popular hike leads to Gangapurna Lake, a glacial-fed turquoise gem located just below the Gangapurna Glacier. This walk not only helps with acclimatization but also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Chongkor Viewpoint: Another great option is a hike to Chongkor Hill, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Manang Valley, and the Marsyangdi River below.
Monastery Visits: A short walk to the 500-year-old Braga Monastery provides both a spiritual experience and magnificent vistas of Annapurna II and IV.
Ascend gradually through alpine pastures and juniper fields. Along the way, you’ll encounter yaks grazing and enjoy the serenity of the high-altitude terrain.
The trek from Manang (3,540m) to Yak Kharka (4,050m) is a crucial segment of the Annapurna Circuit, as it helps trekkers acclimatize to higher altitudes. This section offers spectacular mountain views, serene landscapes, and a gradual ascent through the high-altitude environment.
Distance: Approximately 10 km (6.2 miles)
Duration: 3–5 hours, depending on your pace and acclimatization stops.
The Manang to Yak Kharka trek is a perfect combination of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural insight, setting the stage for the thrilling climb to the Thorong La Pass.
This day involves a steady climb as you ascend from Yak Kharka to Thorong High Camp, which is closer to the Thorong La Pass. The trek is relatively short in distance but challenging due to the altitude, so a slow and steady pace is essential.
The trail initially follows a gradual ascent along alpine meadows and pastures where yaks are often grazing. Letdar is a small settlement that serves as a rest point. After Letdar, the trail becomes steeper as you approach Thorong Phedi(4500M), the last major stop before the high pass. Cross a suspension bridge and traverse some landslide-prone areas with caution. Thorong Phedi offers accommodations and a chance to rest before the final push. For those acclimatized and feeling strong, an additional climb of around 400 meters takes you to Thorong High Camp. This steep section rewards you with incredible views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. High Camp is a great place to stay overnight for an easier start to the Thorong La Pass the next morning.
This day is critical for acclimatization and preparation for the next day’s early morning crossing of the Thorong La Pass (5,416m). Rest well and hydrate adequately to ensure a successful and enjoyable trek!
The trek's highest point. The challenging ascent rewards you with breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Descend to Muktinath (3,800m), a sacred site for Hindus and Buddhists. Stay at a lodge near the Muktinath temple, enjoying serene mountain views.
Key things to remember:
This day is a testament to the endurance and spirit of adventure, leaving trekkers with memories of crossing one of the world’s most iconic mountain passes and arriving at a serene, spiritual destination.
After exploring Muktinath, take a scenic drive (7-9hrs) to Pokhara, passing through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, charming Thakali villages, and beautiful landscapes. Pokhara, a lakeside city, offers a relaxing environment with stunning views of Phewa Lake and the Annapurna range. Stay at a comfortable hotel in Pokhara.
Take a short, scenic flight back to Kathmandu, offering one last aerial view of the Himalayas. Spend the day shopping for souvenirs or exploring cultural landmarks.
After completing the breathtaking Annapurna Circuit Trek, the journey concludes back in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital city of Nepal. Following a scenic flight from Pokhara, you’ll return to the bustling streets of Kathmandu, a sharp yet welcoming contrast to the tranquil mountain landscapes.
This final day offers an opportunity to relax, reflect, and celebrate the incredible achievement of trekking through some of the most diverse and stunning landscapes in the world.
As your trek concludes, the team at Jolly Himalaya Adventures ensures your experience ends on a high note, with heartfelt gratitude for choosing to explore Nepal’s majestic Himalayas with them.
